Let’s face it. Not everyone is very excited for Valentine’s day. Especially you. It might be because you will be spending the day alone, and your friends all have dates. Or you just came out of a relationship and it is your first time to face Valentine’s day alone. Or perhaps you are just a bitter grinch of love and Valentines.
Whatever your reason is, one thing is for sure. You dread February 14. But it is unavoidable. You can’t simply shut your eyes, and wait for the day to pass by. It’s not going to be easy, but here are some tips to lessen your agony.
1. STAY AT HOME
It is better to shut yourself in your home than to go outside and see lovers flocking everywhere. At home, you are in your comfort zone, and you could do whatever you want. Heck, you could even celebrate Halloween. Just avoid watching cheesy romantic movies because it would eventually give you the Valentine feels, and you will just feel worse.
2. DEACTIVATE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS
Spare yourself from reading other people’s romantic messages and viewing sweet pictures. Deactivate your account on February 14 and let it be for two to three days until the fever dies out. You would also be spared from other friends tagging you to cliche quotes reminding you its okay to be single on Valentine’s day.
3. WORK OVERTIME
One or all of your co-workers are probably giddy to leave work early for a date. Offer a helping hand and volunteer to work late. Your co-worker owes you, and you’ll go home dead tired you won’t even remember its Valentine’s day. Win-win situation.
4. MAKE MONEY ON VALENTINE’S DAY
Got talent? Bake those sweet cupcakes. Make those flower bouquets. Sell some home-made chocolates. If you are making money during this day, you would appreciate it more. And your bitterness towards this holiday would eventually dissipate.
5. PLAN YOUR ME TIME
There are some personal activities that lovers would unlikely to do during Valentines day that you could take advantage of. Go to the gym. Visit your dentist. Go have your make over at a salon. Pamper and love yourself. Just remember to stay away from restaurants, bars and movie theaters.
6. UNITE WITH OTHER SINGLE VALENTINE GRINCH LIKE YOU
Like they say, birds of the same feather flocks together. Find friends or other people who are just like you, and go around town ruining other people’s date.
Just a reminder: it would not make you feel any better. Share to help others survive this sorrowful Valentine’s day Haha!
